5 Quirky Gift Ideas for Parents
They say a book makes the best gift. I concur.
They say a quirky book makes the best gift for a quirky person. I don't know if they actually say that, but I double concur. If you have quirky friends who recently (or not so recently) became parents, these book ideas are likely to please them very much.
1. How to Traumatize Your Children
I love this book so much, I can’t even begin to tell you. Oh wait…. I can! And I did. Here. Since reading it a few years ago, I bought about a dozen of copies as gifts. Christmas gifts, white elephant gift exchanges (one year it was a hit! stolen and wept after), and gifts for no reason other than loving people who I gave it to.
2. Raising the Perfect Child Through Guilt and Manipulation
Admittedly, this is quite similar to the “Traumatizing” book! Quite honestly though, I don’t know which one I love more!
3. Safe Baby Handling Tips
As making and raising new people becomes more and more complex, we need more and more manuals to tell us how to safely screw up these little people. So that they look and act more or less normal.
4. Welcome to the Club: 100 Parenting Milestones You Never Saw Coming
Once upon a time, there lived a young woman who had no children. Yet. She laughed hard every time she heard about “genius” baby who started crawling at two months old. Come on, people, this isn’t Harvard! - she used to say.
Then she had a child of her own. Two, actually.
Needless to say, they were both pure genius.
Crawled at 5 months and 8, respectively. Walked at 9 and 10 months. Started Kindergarten at 5 (years old). Seriously, they are so smart, I can’t believe how lucky I am!
Well anyway. Recognize yourself (or not!) in this wonderfully humorous “Welcome to the Club.”
5. If You Give a Mommy a Glass of Wine
Hold on, I’m fetching a glass of wine here…. It’s been a long day, and I’m ready to curl up with a good book:)
P.S.
In an unlikely event that your quirky friends dislike these books, you should absolutely keep them! In fact, get a copy for yourself right now, you won’t regret it. Then pass it on to someone you love.
On bad parenting days, these cute little reads can lift up your mood like nothing else. Okay, like a few other things. Share in comments what helps you especially!
